Happy New Year!
Things are in full swing here at Martin Luther preparing for Homecoming on January 22. We hope you will be able to join us! This month, we feature the Mr. Lindsay Adams (ML Class of '86) and Mr. Lou Bekios (ML Class of '83), two of the four alumni who will be honored at this year's Wall of Achievers Ceremony.
Lindsay S. Adams, class of 1986, currently works as a patent attorney helping clients obtain patents for their inventions. He is employed in the position of “counsel” at the intellectual property firm Lucas & Mercanti, LLP located down the street from the New York Stock Exchange.
Since graduating Martin Luther, Lindsay went on to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry from Hofstra University in 1990. Originally intending to become a doctor, Lindsay decided to switch career paths and instead attended law school at Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire (now the University of New Hampshire Law School). After graduating in 1993, Lindsay returned to the NY metro area to start his career as patent attorney focusing in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
Lindsay was married for 20 years to Sabrena Jones-Adams who, sadly, is now deceased. She was a classmate from Junior High School 189 back in Flushing. Lindsay’s hobbies include golf and cycling.
Best Memory of Martin Luther: "Jim Regan constantly reprimanding my classmate and friend, Norman Delano, to stop “break dancing” during gym. Every chance Norman got, he would be spinning on the floor, much to the dismay of Mr. Regan."
Lou Bekios, son of John and Jeri Bekios, brother to Tammy Bekios (M.L. class 1978) and Cathy Bekios (M.L. class 1981) followed the path of his siblings when he graduated from Martin Luther in 1983.
After high school, Lou attended St. Johns University, graduating in 1987. After college, Lou took over the family business, Grand Florist, a retail business serving the Maspeth community for over 50 years. Under his leadership, the business expanded to include a wholesale division in 1989. In addition, Lou currently develops and manages real estate in Maspeth.
A member of the Martin Luther Foundation board, distinguished past President of the Maspeth Kiwanis, and savvy businessman, Lou has become a fixture in the Maspeth and Martin Luther communities.
Lou met his lovely wife Anna at St. Johns University; they were wed in 1993. Lou and Anna have 5 wonderful children-- Arianna, Sabrina, John, Joseph and Grace. They currently reside in Douglaston, Queens.
Lou enjoys coaching his children's sports teams, trading stocks and vacationing in Florida.
