MLHS Mission Statement
In response to the redeeming love of Jesus Christ, Martin Luther High School challenges mind and body and shapes Christian character so that students succeed as God's people in this world.
|
Martin Luther High School realizes that the financial obligations of private education may strain your budget.
To assist you, we have established several scholarship and grant-in aid programs.
Last year, over 100 families received a total of $150,000 in aid.
|
Academic Excellence Scholarships
MLHS offers ten $3,200 per year and ten $2,700 per year scholarships to students who score highest in our annual Academic Excellence Scholarship Competition. Three half-tuition scholarships are also offered each year to the three students with the highest scores on the Academic Excellence Scholarship Exam. The awards are distributed over four years.
To be eligible for the award, the student must take the school's scholarship exam, offered each November.
Only incoming 8th and 9th grade students are eligible. Winners are announced at the annual score report meeting.
Grants-In-Aid
To students and their families who can demonstrate financial need, MLHS awards grants in amounts up to $2700 per year. These may be applied yearly.
In January-April of each year, parents request and file a financial aid application with the Private School Aid Service.
Upon receipt of the information from the aid service, the financial aid committee of MLHS determines the award amounts. The grant is coupled with a service requirement.
|
Servant of Christ Scholarship
Awards of $200 to $400 each are given to students who consider full-time service in the Lutheran Church.
The scholarships, in a memory of the Rev. Martin Steege, a founding pastor of the school, encourage students to consider vocations of ordained minister, school teacher or deaconess.
Students are nominated for this award each spring by their Lutheran pastor or parochial school principal.
More detailed information on these scholarship programs as well as Grant-in-Aid applications are available upon the student's acceptance to MLHS.
For tuition rates and costs please email: info@martinluthernyc.org or call the main office at 718.894.4000.
