As a new staff member coming into Martin Luther School in August of 2017, I was excited to enter a smaller environment. I had heard from MLS Alumni and current faculty and staff that the small size of the school is what made it a great place to be a student, teacher and member of the community... and they were right.

I was automatically welcomed into the community by everyone in the faculty and staff. Everyone was approachable, excited to help, and willing to offer guidance. I noticed from my very first day, that the working community was very much like a family.

What surprised me most, was learning how involved the students were with faculty and staff. Because of the small student to teacher ratio in each of the classes, many students have the opportunity to get to know the teachers, and the teachers have the opportunity to get to know all of the students. This kind of relationship and mentorship is something I had not experienced in my own school experience....and I was in awe of the number of students who would feel comfortable in confiding with a teacher over difficulties and celebrating reunions with returning staff members. It truly was an environment I had never seen before. This kind of relationship really encourages students to do well and push themselves inside and outside of the classroom here.

After almost a year at Martin Luther School, I have seen the friendship, the mentorship and the teamwork that comes from being in a small school. No one gets lost in the crowd here, and everyone is noticed for what makes them unique. It is a pleasure to be a part of the Cougar family, and I am looking forward to meeting the new group of students this coming fall. As a staff member I would recommend Martin Luther School to a family because of the individualized attention that all students get here. Teachers and students overcome challenges and celebrate victories together... and this is not an academic experience you can get at just any school.

We are grateful to have very involved staff & faculty here at Martin Luther School. If you are interested in learning more about our Admissions Team and Application Process, please e-mail our Director of Admissions, Amanda Slinger here.
