“If you want to see Ann’s eyes light up, just ask her about ‘her students’ from her 35 years at Martin Luther School”, stated James R. Regan, MLS’s newly appointed Executive Director.
Teacher, Coach, Administrator, Honor Society Advisor, Academic Marshall, League Officer, Varsity Sports Commissioner (Girls’ Volleyball & Basketball and Boys’ Volleyball), even veteran of the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation for 20 straight summers, Ann is one of MLS’s many great assets and contributors to MLS students’ success.
No stranger to international education herself, Ann was educated in Scotland, where she attended Middle School, High School and college. There she excelled at a variety of sports including Field Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, Net Ball, Badminton and throwing the javelin. Her experience with students of all abilities and keen eye for teamwork on and off the field have lead to her proven track record of spotting and developing student talent…again both on and off the field. “Need something done and done right? Ann is the one,” added, Regan. Her bottomless capacity to lead students in a variety of ways is what makes her a strong advocate for each student according to his/her own ability.
When asked what motivates her most about education Ann replied, “I consider it a privilege and an honor to be given the opportunity to instruct students. I find it extremely gratifying to see them grow from ‘young kids’ when they come to MLS into fine young adults when they graduate,” Ann proudly stated. “One of the many advantages of our being a small school is how we uncover and nurture each student’s skills in all areas and support them as they develop new passions in Athletics, Academics as well as in the Arts. For example, this past year both our Valedictorian and our Salutatorian were also top athletes and played in the band, too. We are very proud of how we help students blossom at MLS,“ she added.
Known for her strict adherence to rules, “she serves as an example of fairness and always doing what’s right vs. what’s easiest,” stated one of her colleagues. “Everyone at MLS, students, parents, faculty and staff, are all very glad we have her on ‘our team’,” he added.
