Martin Luther School in Maspeth, Queens, Turns 60 in 2020.

These 60 years have always been about change, because that’s the nature of education,” stated James R. Regan, Martin Luther Schools’ Executive Director. “It’s embracing change and constantly evolving that has kept us (MLS) growing and relevant to our ever-changing world. I know firsthand, because I’ve been at MLS for over half of our 60 years.“ he proudly added. “There are many great reasons why Martin Luther School is the Small School. Smart Choice. For example, this fall we are launching our new MLS STREAMS™ program, which goes beyond STEM and STEAM and is unique to MLS. That’s not all either; every student who attends MLS, will receive a new iPad as a result of our partnership with Apple in our new 1:1 iPad Learning Program. And now we are almost 60!“ Regan continued enthusiastically.

“Our 60th Anniversary will be a great opportunity for us to continue to share how our small school allows our dedicated staff at MLS to give each student the individualized attention she/he needs to be their personal best,” MLS Principal, Donna Younghese, pointed out. “Our small size has been a very big part of who we are over our 60 years. Now that is more important than ever for students and parents since schools in our area have grown so large, certainly larger that we are,“ she confidently stated then added: “This fall we have more in store than ever for our students, so we are very excited about our new term starting Sept. 3rd  - a nice feeling of accomplishment as we head toward turning 60!

“Turning 60 is cause for MLS to celebrate, so watch for news as the year unfolds,” stated Chris Brown, MLS Director of Development and Community Relations, who already has celebration plans in the making.

“And mark your calendars now for the OPEN HOUSE on Oct, 19 from 11-3,” added Obed Figueroa, MLS’s new Director of Recruitment and Admissions. “Come see for yourselves why MLS is the Small School. Smart Choice, as we go for 60 more!” he added enthusiastically.

Faith, values, respect and diversity all come together here in our small, safe learning environment as we help each student succeed in college and in life.
